The Hinds Instruments PER/ER System is an automated Polarization Extinction Ratio (PER) and Extinction Ratio (ER) measurement system for both discrete optics and optical assemblies.

Geared toward the laser crystals manufacturing industry, this is a labor saving QC solution that automates the time consuming and error prone chore of determining these critical polarization properties.

Using precision automated rotators and ultra high grade polarization optics the PER/ER system is a consistent, repeatable method for determining the PER influence of an optic or the ER of a polarizer. While PER measurement systems for fiber optics are common, this is the first commercially available system designed for non-fiber applications.

Quick and Automated Start the process and let it run. No manual rotation of optics, no misinterpretation of readings, no eye strain from reading fine precision scales.

Two Modes The PER/ER system can be switched from evaluating Polarization Extinction Ratio (PER) to Extinction Ratio (ER) with the simple slide of a lever. This tool allows the measurement of the different types of polarization optics in one instrument.

Easy to understand Software Step by step graphical software instructions guide the operator through the measurement process with pop-up window and pictures. Users of all levels will find the GUI pictorial instructions (from zeroing the instrument, to loading the sample, to running the PER or ER measurement) easy to understand and follow, and even allow users to pause in the process between steps without losing track of the next step.

Integrated “dark room” The light sealed sample chamber allows the measurements to be made in normal lab lighting conditions while optimizing the sample environment for peak detection sensitivity.

QC Report Generator The automatic report generator allows QC departments to quickly generate specification confirmation documents for customer shipments.
